Ambassador Thecla A. Orakwe is currently the Secretary/Personal Assistant to the Deputy Secretary-General, African Affairs & Special Envoy to the African Union – INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF DIPLOMATS (ISD). Prior to her appointment as Personal Assistant to the Deputy Secretary-General of ISD, she was the Head of Communications and Public Relations at the African School of Diplomacy and International Relations (ASDIR) from 2022 till date.

Thecla is a digital marketer, content writer, a virtual artist, a corporate compere, a public speaker, a spoken-word/voice-over artiste and a poet. Within the period under review, Thecla has demonstrated highest level of technical skills in marketing communications, project planning and coordination. Because of her glaring potentials in driving organizations/programs objectives and dedication to her duties, she was honoured as one of the “Ambassadors” of the African Young Ambassadors Network (AYAN) in 2022 by the African Union (AU) Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Assembly.

Thecla has worked in the capacity of staff and volunteer in a number of local and international organizations such as African Youth International, Development Foundation (AFYIDEF), Eagle Team Media Limited, AU-ECOSOCC Nigeria, African Civil Society Forum (AFRICSOF), Pan-African Chamber of Culture, Trade and Investment (PANACCTI), etc., where she has acquired so much experiences that cut across managerial operations, media, business, education, social development; project planning, execution and review, administration, digital marketing, research and communications.

In academic records, Thecla obtained Bachelor of Arts in History and International Relations from Veritas University, Abuja, Nigeria in 2020. She is a “Member” of Institute of Humanitarian Services and Social Development (MIHSD) and has acquired a number of Professional Certifications like Office Communication and Administration and Executive Certificate in Human Resource Management from Institute of Man-Power Development in 2022, acquired training in Digital Marketing in 2023 and has built experience on Project management and support over the years, in an attempt to expand the horizons of her career and potentials.
